Publishing in Australia seems to never earn you big dollars, unless you crack the International market in a big way. The recent rise of technology and the interest in Kindles, iPad, eBooks, internet sales and digital “on-demand” printing has publishers rethinking and remapping the future of books.
So while people work out what they make of the future, Myke still finds himself enjoying design for both advertising and publishing.
Even though Myke is primarily an author/illustrator, he often enjoys typesetting and designing other peoples books. Myke’s ability to step from one role to another has taught him after nearly twenty years, to respect the adage of “keeping your day job” as a designer by day. So for Myke designing books is what he does. He enjoys the process of typesetting, from Picture books to novels, and all the books in between. Apart from his own author/illustrated books, in the past five years albeit part time, Myke has produced a few titles along the way.
